How to Ensure the Filling Balance of Multi-cavity Mold

For multi-cavity molds, especially molds with different volume wall thicknesses of each cavity part, all cavities can be filled in a uniform time, which requires reasonable runner and gate design.

For example, as shown in the figure below, this mold has 4 cavities for different parts, and the volume and wall thickness of each part are very different. We can achieve filling balance through mold flow analysis and design of cold runners and gates of different diameters.

As can be seen from the figure, our engineers designed the branches of the cold runner into runners with different diameters, and the diameter of the feed port also involves different sizes, so that the plastic flow can be balanced during injection filling. Although the reason is very simple, but in the production of mold today, we can not only rely on the experience of mold production master, but the need for advanced mold analysis software for pre-analysis and involved, which greatly shortens the mold manufacturing time and reduces the number of mold test, can reduce the cost of mold manufacturing.

According to the parts drawings provided by customers, our engineer team makes full use of CAD/CAE/CAM system to simulate the real mold injection experiment by using simulation technology for mold pouring, cooling, ejection and other structures, and repeatedly revise the original design or model through feedback data to achieve the best effect. The core change is the continuous use of simulation technology to replace the original experimental tests at all stages of the mold production cycle, so as to obtain the best design scheme.
