The Influence of Selecting Injection Gate Position on Injection Molding Balance by Mold Flow Analysis
For injection molded parts, especially large injection molded parts and injection molded parts with complex structure and uneven wall thickness, or multi-cavity molds, how to choose the appropriate gate position is very important.
As shown in the figure below, the engineer placed the gate position in the Products according to the normal design idea. However, due to the uneven wall thickness of the product, the dynamic state of the injection mold flow can be clearly seen through the mold flow analysis. One side of the gate has been filled, but the other side still has a lot of material shortage. When the injection pressure is increased to fill the shortage side, the other side has already appeared in the overflow state, which increases the difficulty of injection molding process adjustment, and this congenital design defect makes it difficult to modify the mold afyer mold making.
Now, when we use mold flow analysis before mold making, we will pay attention to this problem in advance. We can achieve the injection mold flow balance by changing the position of the gate. The following figure is the result of re-analyzing the mold flow by changing the position of the injection gate, which is obviously more reasonable. This highlights the importance of mold flow analysis before mold design.
